Q: What age do you need to be to be a volunteer?

A: We recommend that you're at least 12 if you want to do any volunteer work that requires heavy lifting. This is simply a precaution since many young children do not have the stamina or the strength to handle some of the more physically intensive work. However, performances and tutorship has no minimum age requirement! We welcome academic and artistic talent from all ages. There is no maximum age requirement either, so if you have some free time and you'd like to do some community service, you can still apply!

Q: My schedule isn't exactly flexible, what if I can't attend a volunteer event?

A: No worries! We schedule multiple volunteer events each month that are open to everybody. Simply check the google schedule posted on the front page or email us at ylp@youthleadershipky.org to gain immediate access to the google calendar so you can check to see which events fit into your schedule. If that doesn't work, contact us about adding more volunteer opportunities to meet your schedule's needs!

Q: How do I claim my Presidential Award?

A: If you want to claim your Presidential Award, simply register for it on the Presidential Awards Website. Put us down as your volunteer organization and we'll send them a transcript of all your volunteer hours so far (So make sure to sign in every time you volunteer!). Otherwise, you can email us to apply for you and you'll receive your award as soon as possible! We will also be giving out Congressional Awards at the end of each school semester for anyone that meets the requirements. 

Q: When can I expect an update from when I sign up?

A: Usually we respond via email within 1 week. If 1 week has passed and there's been no notice, then please check your spam folder or message us again. Sometimes, requests can take up to 1 week but most requests are processed within a few days. Please be patient with us! Thank you so much
