Our Story

Youth Leadership Program is a nonprofit sub-organization of KYCAA, founded in 2020 to provide free volunteer services to those in need. Our mission is to help our community grow in a culture of service and dedication. At the heart of our mission is a steadfast commitment to serving our community through the provision of free, impactful volunteer services. We firmly believe that by offering our time, talents, and energy to those in need, we not only enrich the lives of others but also cultivate essential leadership skills and values within ourselves. But our mission extends beyond mere service; it's about creating meaningful connections, fostering empathy, and building a stronger, more inclusive community. YLP and Culture

Kentucky Chinese American Association is a Chinese association who sponsors YLP. Together we make culture an important part of our Youth Leadership Program. We celebrate inclusivity and welcome a wide variety of people from all backgrounds.

Service

Our Goals

Our primary goal at YLP is to dedicate young leaders to service and respect in their community. We aim to have a long stretching network of non-profits, organizations, and causes that our volunteers can participate in, to improve their knowledge and skills around the world. Here at YLP, we follow the LEARN acronym, which means Leadership, Empathy, Ambition, Responsibility, and Networking. Together with these values, the Youth Leadership will work towards a better community for all.

Leadership

Leadership is an extremely important quality for anyone, but it’s especially important for the youth. Young leaders can metamorphose their communities and their lives, creating change from no where fueled by their passion. YLP cultivates this passion and energy and dedicates it to large projects that could change the world forever.

Empathy

Empathy is the cornerstone of understanding and connection, is nurtured at YLP. We empower young leaders to step into others' shoes, fostering kindness and compassion. Through our programs, youth gain a deep understanding of community challenges, becoming agents of positive change.

Ambition

Ambition fuels progress and innovation, driving dreams and goals. At YLP, we cultivate this spirit, urging young leaders to aim high and pursue their aspirations with determination. Through our support and resources, we empower them to turn ambition into action, making a lasting impact on the world.

Responsibility

Being responsible is essential for integrity and accountability, is ingrained in YLP's leadership ethos. We teach young leaders to honor commitments, act with integrity, and take ownership of their actions. By fostering responsible decision-making, we build trust and empower youth to make ethical choices for the betterment of society.

Networking, vital in today's interconnected world, is a focus at YLP. We equip young leaders with the skills to build meaningful connections and leverage relationships for mutual benefit.
